The Natural Beauty of Kanawha State Forest

Located just seven miles south of Charleston, West Virginia, the 9,300 square foot Kanawha State Forest is a lush and beautiful area known for great hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, picnics, bird watching, and other recreational activities. Campsite reservations at Kanawha are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The park’s dinner

The park’s dinner theaters feature a festive array of dining and entertainment. Past events include standup comedy and blues music concerts. Registrations are required and seating is limited.

Enjoy the forest's 46-site camping area

Enjoy the forest's 46-site camping area, served by two bathhouses and coin-operated laundry facilities. All sites have fireplaces, picnic tables. 25 of the sites feature electricity and water. Firewood and ice, and dumping stations are also available for campground guests.
Campgrounds open in mid-April and remain open until the first Saturday in December or deer rifle season - whichever is later. Only one tent or trailer is allowed per site. Checkout is at 12 noon.
